On a CD-R (1) unique identification information, or UID, is recorded in advance. When the CD-R (1) is loaded in an information terminal (10), the UID is read and transmitted to a management server (12) via the Internet (11). The management server (12) judges from the received UID whether predetermined data is recordable or not on the CD-R (1). For example, if the UID is valid, content data is downloaded to the information terminal (10) from the management server (12) and recorded on the CD-R (1). Alternatively, again if the UID is valid, the management server (12) gives a permission to the information terminal (10) to copy or move the content data. Therefore, content data recorded on another recording medium can be copied or moved to the CD-R (1).
