An amusement ride including a non-continuous track (2) supported over a curv ed path and extending between a high end (9) and a low end (4) for transporting riders (7, 8). The track (2) includes at least two independent running rails (34, 35). The amusement ride also includes at least one carrier (32, 33) arranged to carry at least one rider on each running rail (34, 35) of the track (2). The carriers (32, 33) include attachment means (36, 37) arranged to slidingly engage with the running rails (34, 35) to enable the carriers (32, 33) to descend carrying the riders (7, 8) from the high end (9) to the low e nd (4).
