<p>An implementation of a technology, described herein, for facilitating authentication of person identification documents. One implementation, described herein, is a simple, inexpensive, and cryptographically secure personal ID architecture. With this implementation, one may create and efficiently authenticate secure photographic personal identification documents (ID) that thwarts tampering and counterfeiting attempts. This ID employs a compact, cryptographically signed bar-code that is readable by an ordinary scanner. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent.
