PURPOSE: A piston of a swash plate type compressor for a vehicle is provided to simplify the work for forming a shoe pocket to use a tool bar of a large diameter for both side surfaces of a swash plate hole while a piston is existing. CONSTITUTION: A piston of a swash plate type compressor for a vehicle includes a swash plate hole(42) formed in the center of the piston(35). The swash plate hole is formed with semicircular tool bar grooves(45) at both side surfaces(43) in the longitudinal direction for using a tool bar(41) having a large diameter, wherein the tool bar grooves are formed at positions for forming a shoe pocket(36). By using the tool bar having a large diameter, a tool(40) fixed by the tool bar has no vibration while machining the shoe pocket.
