A pharmaceutical supply method is provided which includes receiving a request to charge a delivery appliance with a requested pharmaceutical, producing a first electronic pharmaceutical identifier which identifies the requested pharmaceutical, reading an identification tag associated with an actual pharmaceutical to produce a second electronic pharmaceutical identifier whic h identifies the actual pharmaceutical, and comparing the first electronic pharmaceutical identifier with the second electronic pharmaceutical identifier. Where the first electronic pharmaceutical identifier matches the second electronic pharmaceutical identifier, the delivery appliance may be charged with the actual pharmaceutical.
