The process involves locally depositing a sealing layer on areas to be sealed. The local deposition is performed using an electrostatic coating process in which coating particles are electrostatically charged and transferred to a substrate to be coated using transfer roll/belt by applying an electric field. The particles are melted to give a coating film in the form of a coating layer and are subsequently solidified. An Independent claim is also included for a production device of manufacturing a flexible packaging material from a single or multi-layer film or film-type laminate.
