Health food contains the extract obtained by extracting bamboo with the alcohol solution. An independent claim is also included for an anti-tumor agent, which contains the extract of the bamboo obtained by extracting bamboo with the alcohol solution as an active ingredient. ACTIVITY : Cytostatic. Malignant sarcomata cell was transplanted hypodermically to BALB/C mouse to induce solid tumor. The time dependent change of tumor area was measured for 25 days. 0.1 ml of sample containing powder extracted from Mousou-bamboo dissolved with 60% of water containing alcohol solution, was administered to the animal for 3 days at the tumor of right leg. The physiological saline was administered to the control group animals. The tumor was extracted and the weight was measured. The result showed that the sample was suppressed proliferation of tumor area in legs compared to control. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given. |
