METHOD FOR CONTROLLING INITIAL POSITION OF OPTICAL PICKUP

PURPOSE: An initial optical pickup position controlling method is provided to move an optical pickup to an initial position on an optical disc for a servo tuning though a limit switch is not installed. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. An optical disc is inserted into a slot of a disc player(S10). A laser diode within an optical pickup is turned on and a focus search operation is performed(S11). Then, the optical pickup is moved to an initial position on the optical disc(S12). It is checked whether the optical pickup is positioned at the initial position on the optical disc by using a signal reflected from the optical disc(S13). In a case that the optical pickup is moved to the initial position on the optical disc(S20), a servo tuning operation is performed(S21).
