摘要 The invention comprises phosphonic diamides of the formula <FORM:0903033/IV (b)/1> wherein Y1 and Y2 are the same or different secondary amino groups selected from dialkylamino groups and heterocyclic amino groups containing nitrogen in the ring. They may be obtained by reacting with phosphorous acid, a phosphorous triamide P(Y)3 wherein the groups Y are the same or different secondary amino groups selected from dialkylamino groups and heterocyclic amino groups containing nitrogen in the ring. Suitable reaction temperatures are from 0 DEG C. to 150 DEG C. Specified dialkylamino groups are dimethyl-, diethyl-, dipropyl-, dibutyl-, diamyl-, and dioctyl-amino groups, and mixed groups, e.g. methyl ethyl amino or ethyl butyl amino groups. Specified heterocyclic groups are piperidino, morpholino and pyrrolidino groups. The phosphorous triamides may be obtained by reacting one mole of phosphorus trichloride with at least six moles of the desired secondary amine. Examples are given. The products are useful as chemical intermediates, thus they may be converted to the corresponding phosphoric diamido chlorides by reaction with N-chlorosuccinimide and the chloride may then be converted to octamethyl pyrophosphoramide, e.g. by adding water, allowing the temperature to rise to 39 DEG C. and then adding triethylamine and maintaining the temperature at between 40 DEG and 45 DEG C. for two hours; after adding carbon tetrachloride the amine hydrochloride is filtered off, the carbon tetrachloride removed by distillation leaving the octamethylpyrophosphoramide as residue.
