Internal combustion engine has at least one engine component comprising: (a) a combustion chamber for a combustion mixture equipped with a compression system; (b) an ignition system for the combustion mixture; (c) some devices for the sequential passage of the oxidant and fuel constituents and for the combustion products; and (d) an ignition system incorporating an essentially spherical closed head with a wall enclosing the ignitor in a precombustion chamber, the head incorporating an assembly of orifices putting the precombustion chamber and the main combustion chamber into communication for the passage of the fuel mixture in the precombustion chamber. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the ignition of an internal combustion engine.
