PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grain discriminator for discriminating grains by a simple calculation. SOLUTION: The grain discriminator generates a grain image 18 of a grain 14 by photographing with a photographing device. The discriminator divides the grain image into four regions with a longest main inertia axis S of the grain 14 and a central vertical axis T that crosses and is orthogonal to the center of the axis S, counts the number of pixels in each region, and calculates a maximum pixel number difference by subtracting a smallest pixel number from a largest pixel number in each region. When the maximum pixel number difference is less than a predetermined threshold value, the grain 14 is determined to have a normal grain size. When the maximum pixel number difference is larger the predetermined threshold value, the grain 14 is determined to have an abnormal size. Whether the grain 14 has a normal size can be determined by the simple calculation, specifically by counting the pixel number in each region of the grain image 18 and calculating the maximum image number difference.
