<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail for a bed capable of being freely installed along the desired direction within the range preliminarily selected arbitrarily in the periphery of the bed and comprising a novel structure enabling safe independent walking movement in the periphery of the bed. <P>SOLUTION: The handrail for the bed comprises a protective frame 2, which is vertically provided on the bed at proper place, a handrail frame 3, wherein a handrail lever 32 is extended from the base end support 31 together provided to the protective frame and a free end support 33 having a support leg part 37 is formed to the leading end of the handrail lever, and a stretching handrail frame 4 wherein a handrail lever 43 is extended from the connection support 41 together provided to the free end of the handrail frame 3 and a free end support 42 having a support leg part 44 is formed to the leading end thereof.
