METHOD FOR REDUCING NONLINEAR DISTORTION IN CHANNEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing distortion in a channel caused by nonlinear fiber propagation.

SOLUTION: The method of reducing nonlinear distortion in a channel of an optical signal caused by nonlinear fiber propagation includes application of distortion before polarization mode dispersion (PMD) to an optical signal, so that the distortion before PMD generates two replica signals of the optical signal separated by different group delay time difference (DGD). The replica signals are adapted to be transmitted via an optical finer. The DGD interval is selected to reduce nonlinear distortion in a channel given by the optical fiber.
