<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare silk powder having excellent growing property especially to human cells and excellent formability, feeling to the hand, spreadability, adhesivity, dyeing property, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The modified silk powder having human cell growing property and excellent formability, feeling to the hand, spreadability, adhesivity, dyeing property, or the like, is produced by coating the surface of (1) crystalline silk powder having a lowered molecular weight with (2) a silk substance degummed under a mild treating condition and having a molecular weight higher than the molecular weight of the modified silk powder.
