PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply control method of a printer having a power save function in which a holding time is kept constant regardless of the state of the printer when power supply is interrupted, and the holding time can be prolonged without causing cost increase. SOLUTION: In a printer performing print out based on received data and having a power save function for interrupting power supply to each section when no data is received for a predetermined time, a function for monitoring interruption of power supply, and a nonvolatile memory for storing the printing amount, usage of consumables, and the like, when power supply is interrupted, the power supply control method makes a transition to a power save mode when interruption of power supply is detected by the function for monitoring interruption of power supply.
