PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a wire connection time and improve a connection success rate. SOLUTION: An automatic wire connection is performed (101). When succeeding the wire connection, a one-level faster mode wherein a wire feed speed in the next connection is increased by a prescribed quantity is set (103). When failing the connection, a one-level slower mode is set (104) and the automatic connection is performed by slowing the wire feed speed by a prescribed quantity (105). Then, it is set to one-level faster mode and the wire feed speed is returned to its original speed (107). Whenever succeeding the automatic connection, the wire feed speed is increased by one level (a prescribed quantity) to shorten the connecting time. When failing the connection, the automatic connection is performed by slowing the wire feed speed to improve the success rate of the connection. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
