<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device capable of accurately determining a contact start position where the contact of a disc rotor and a brake pad is started. <P>SOLUTION: This brake device comprises an actuator for linearly moving a piston 40 along the axial direction of the disc rotor 11, the brake pads 14, 15 pressed by the linear motion of the piston 40 to be brought into contact with the disc rotor 11, a thrust detecting means 46 for detecting the piston thrust received by the piston 40, and a position detecting means 20 for detecting a position of the piston as the displacement of the piston 40. A position obtained by returning the piston 40 to a brake releasing side by a predetermined amount from the position of the piston at the time when the piston thrust becomes less than a predetermined threshold value which is more than 0, is determined as the contact start position of the disc rotor 11 and the brake pads 14, 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
