PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin particle which is not spherical (e.g. spindle, stick or the like) and a method for preparing the same. SOLUTION: The method for preparing the resin particle comprises a process for adding a thickening agent (V) to an aqueous dispersion (I) including a resin particle (A) to get an aqueous thickened dispersion (II), which is then loaded with a shear stress, and a following process for adding a viscosity-reducing agent (E) if necessary to lower the viscosity of the aqueous dispersion.
