PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module of a structure for generating a light beam of a desired wavelength. SOLUTION: The optical module 1a is provided with a light emitting unit 3a and a wavelength selection unit 3b. The light emitting unit 3a is provided with a semiconductor optical amplifying element 5 and a housing 7. The housing 7 includes a mounting member 11 for mounting the semiconductor optical amplifying element 5. A connector 9 is mounted to the housing 7. The wavelength selection unit 3b is provided with an optical element 23, a housing 25 and a connector 27. The connector 27 is mounted to the housing 27. The optical element 23 reflects the light of the predetermined wavelength element. The housing 25 stores the optical element 23. The connector 9 is connected to be removable to the connector 27. The semiconductor optical amplifying element 5 and optical element 23 are forming an optical resonator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
