Absorbent articles having side extensions

Absorbent articles, such as sanitary napkins, pantiliners, or incontinence pads are described that comprise a pair of side extensions for folding around the side edges of a wearer's undergarment. The side extensions are joined to the main body portion and extend laterally outward beyond the longitudinal side edges of the main body portion. The side extensions can be provided on sanitary napkins that are either extensible or inextensible.
