PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor capable of automatically performing the initial setting of an external device in the information processor to which the external device is connected. SOLUTION: This information processor has a storage area for storing the information for specifying the kind of the external device to be connected to the information processor and the information for specifying the characteristic of the external device. When an external device of the kind not present in the information processor is detected, the connected external device is temporarily determined from the information related to the characteristic of the external device stored in the storage area.
