The ventilator for buildings has a casing (4) fitted on the exterior wall (10) of a building, and a light penetrable cover (6) which at least partially covers the ventilator casing and which with the ventilator casing defines a heat transfer chamber (30). Ribs to enlarge the heat exchange face are located in a ventilating chamber (14) of the casing. The ribs are located only on the cover side or sun side. A building side inner face of the ventilating chamber lying opposite the ribs is dark tinted.
