PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater for shortening waiting time until hot water of a proper temperature can be used, and reusing disposal water when starting to use at the beginning. SOLUTION: A hot water faucet 3, a temperature detector 4, a pump 5, a heater 6 and a switching valve 7 are arranged in this order in a hot water appearing pipe 2 of a water heater 1 having a water flow detector M in a primary side pipe, and one pipe 9 appearing from the switching valve 7 is connected to the vicinity of the water heater 1 of the hot water appearing pipe 2, and the other pipe appearing from the switching valve 7 is formed as a drain pipe 10.
