PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a cosmetic free from smell which is characteristic to marine algae, directly using marine algae itself and having good feelings upon use. SOLUTION: The cosmetic is obtained by adding powder of one or more kinds of marine algae selected from Meristotheca papulosa, Solieria pacifica(Yamada)Yoshida, Chondracanthus teedii and Callophyllis japonica and having≤1 mm, preferably 0.25 mm particle diameter to a cosmetic. The cosmetic has action of skin nutrient ingredients of the marine algae and is free from sea reef smelling which is characteristic to the marine algae. The cosmetic is of dissolution/swelling type or of partial dissolution/disperse type according to kinds of these algae and each type has a cosmetic application suitable for the each type. The addition of the powder for cosmetic becomes more effective by adding the powder to a cosmetic just when the cosmetic is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
