PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate memory access from an external device, and to prevent image information from being modified. SOLUTION: When a record trigger switch 5 is operated, one image outputted from a camera signal processing circuit 17 at that time is written into a semiconductor memory 12, and further, the written image is subjected to data compression by a data compression circuit 21 and stored in a semiconductor memory 13. In this case, if an external device (not shown) is connected to a connector 14, even if the external device instructs to fetch an image of the memory 13 while the memory 13 is writing the image, a state detection circuit 23 detects it and inhibits the external device from fetching the image. Also, while an image of the memory 13 is fetched into the external device even if the circuit 23 detects it and operates the switch 5, an AND gate 6 is turned off and image writing into the memory 13 is inhibited.
