PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a device control burden, in an image reading device for activating light sources of primary colors RGB sequentially, capturing image data of each of luminous colors RGB and generating a subject image as a color image. SOLUTION: The image reading device comprises a backlight BL arranged on a back side of a photo sensor array 100, and a controller 150 that executes, among others, reading operation control of a subject image by the photo sensor array 100 and data exchange with an external function part 200 for executing prescribed processing such as collation or processing of image data, and that has functions of executing a light receiving time optimization operation on the photo sensor array 100, and a luminance adjustment operation on the backlight BL through control of a backlight power source 180.
