PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat treatment method of powdery waste capable of forming a uniform fluidized bed to sufficiently heat-treat a powdery waste and gas in a contact state. SOLUTION: The purpose is achieved by the method of operating a heat treatment apparatus for the powdery waste wherein a gas discharge port is provided at the upper part of a vertical cylindrical heating container, an introducing port of gas for fluidizing the powdery waste and a gas dispersing plate for isolating the fluidized bed part of the powdery waste and a blow-in port are provided to the lower part of the heating container, a charging port and a taking-out port for the powdery waste are further provided, and which is characterized in that the stirring blades of the powdery waste are provided, screw type stirring blades are used as the stirring blades and rotated in a direction feeding out the powdery waste downwardly.
