<p>The invention relates to a method and apparatus for treating liquids, in particular by means of an apparatus based on the use of an ion-exchange resin. The invention is characterized by the steps of passing the liquid being treated into a vessel (1) and therein treating the liquid by way of passing the liquid into at least one horizontal filter element (4) containing a thin layer of an ion-exchange resin and further therethrough to the exterior side of the vessel (1).</p>
