CATHODE BLOCK FOR REINING ALUMINUM, AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode block for refining aluminum which has excellent wear resistance and a long service life.

SOLUTION: In the cathode block for refining aluminum, the ratio of calcined coke is 15 to 100 wt.%. As the calcined coke, the one obtained by mixing carbon black of 3 to 20 wt.% in heavy oil in which the content insoluble in quinoline is 10 to 25 wt.%, and thereafter subjecting the mixture to coking and calcining is used.
