PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network recording playback system capable of continuously recording, even if a storage area such as a HDD (hard disk drive) recorder becomes insufficient during recording. SOLUTION: A capacity confirming means 103 in a recording playback apparatus 108 searches for an external storage 114 connected to a network, if the capacity of an internal storage area 104 decreases. Video image streams to be recorded is received from a receiving means 101, and transmitted to the external storage 114 through a playback communication means 106. A recording communication means 110 receives the video image streams and records them in an external storage area 113.
