<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents unnecessary increases in the time needed for control of an image forming condition and the amount of a developer consumed due to the control and provides adequate control accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus A forms density-detection developer images while altering image forming conditions for each specific width and detects the density of each of the density-detection developer images by a density detection means 100, thereby controlling the image forming conditions.
