<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting element capable of improving direct light output efficiency, and contributing to the miniaturization of a semiconductor light emitting device using this. <P>SOLUTION: This semiconductor light emitting element is configured by successively laminating a first conductive semiconductor layer 2, an active layer 3, and a second conductive semiconductor layer 4 on one face of a supporting substrate 1. A second electrode 6 is arranged in the second conductive semiconductor layer 4, and a recessed part 11 is formed at the predetermined position of the active layer 3 and the second conductive semiconductor layer 4, so that the first conductive semiconductor layer 2 can be exposed, and a first electrode 5 is arranged in the first conductive semiconductor layer 2. The first electrode 5 is configured with its own side face 54 faced to a side face 12 formed with the recessed part 11 so that an interval between both side faces 12 and 54 can be changed in the height direction, and emitted lights are reflected and condensed in a predetermined direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
