A method for printing on media

The method involves setting the paper (1) to the nominal position and determining the error in the position of the set paper with respect to the nominal position. A subset (S0,S+1,S+2) of array of dot forming elements (3) are selected depending on the error. The next swath is printed by the dot forming elements of the selected subset. An independent claim is also included for incremental printing apparatus.
