FUNCTIONAL METALLIC SOUND-ABSORBING MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A functional metallic sound-absorbing material is provided which has superior sound absorbing capacity, moisture resistance, cold resistance and durability, is incombustible, decomposes recalcitrant organic toxic substance, purifies air and shields electromagnetic waves, and a method for manufacturing the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: The functional metallic sound-absorbing material comprises a metal sintered compact(10) prepared by compression molding the vacuum sintered mixture after agitating a mixture of metal fiber and binder and vacuum sintering the mixture; and a photocatalyst coating body(20) formed of titanium dioxide and coated on the surface of the metal sintered compact, wherein the binder is selected from methyl cellulose, polyvinylalcohol and polyvinylacetate. The method for manufacturing the functional metallic sound-absorbing material comprises the steps of mixing fine metal fiber with binder in a ratio of 1:1, agitating the mixture, putting the mold into a furnace of high temperature after putting the agitated mixture on a plate shaped mold, and vacuum sintering the agitated mixture at a temperature of 800 to 1,500 deg.C in the furnace; compression molding the sintered compact so that a compression molded article has density of 100 to 1,000 kg/m¬3 after filling the sintered compact into a metallic mold, and cleaning and drying the compression molded article; dipping the dried molded article into a container containing photocatalyst (TiO2) sol at a temperature of 15 to 30 deg.C for 30 to 120 seconds; and drying the photocatalyst sol coated molded article at an ordinary temperature for 24 hours.
