Replacement antennas for wellbore apparatus

An antenna structure (20) is separately and independently formed with respect to a downhole tool (12) such that it is easily and rapidly deployed on the tool for repair thereof. The structure comprises a partial ring section (arcuate shaped member) (44) which contains an antenna coil (46). Two or more such formed arcuate members are placed in a recess (22) on the tubular forming the tool. The members may be placed in one or more longitudinally distributed sections about the tool. The arcuate members may have antennas with coils of differing orientation to provide directional sensitivity.
