Process for producing tubular pieces with an internal diamond coating

Fabrication of a tubular component (22) forming a diamond coated channel (18) consists of providing a replica (10) of the channel and then effecting the following operations: (a) deposition of a layer of diamond (14) on the replica; (b) deposition of a layer of ceramic (16) on the diamond layer; (c) chemical dissolution of the replica to liberate the channel. Prior to the deposition of the layer of diamond, the replica may be subjected to a nitriding and/or carburizing operation to form a superficial layer (12) to provide a barrier to avoid diffusion of the metal of the replica into the diamond layer (claimed).
