FIELD: metallurgy, possibly steel continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: method for refining steel in intermediate ladle divided by receptacle and casting cavities comprises steps of suppressing vortex flows on metal surface in receptacle cavity of intermediate ladle due to increasing metal speed near bottom of receptacle and lowering speed near metal surface and due to reducing radial component of metal stream speed. Apparatus for refining steel includes steel casting ladle, immersible pipe, intermediate ladle. The last is divided by means of aperture refractory partitions. In receptacle cavity of intermediate ladle along its large axis one or more inserts are arranged for forming restricted duct in bottom portion of receptacle cavity of intermediate ladle. Center of crossing of symmetry axes of formed duct corresponds to central axis of immersible pipe. EFFECT: lowered content of non-metallic inclusions, enhanced quality of steel. 2 cl, 2 dwg |
