APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING THREE-DIMENSIONAL CARICATURE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for generating a three-dimensional caricature are provided to generate a three-dimensional caricature much similar to a face of a user. CONSTITUTION: A memory part(10) stores an ASM(Active Shape Model) required for generating a three-dimensional caricature and a three-dimensional polygon face basic model. A pre-processor(31) detects positions of eyes from an inputted facial image and normalizes the size of the facial image. A face component initial position detector(33) detects an initial position of each face component from the pre-processed facial image. An ASM loading unit(35) loads the stored ASM to the pre-processed facial image to be corresponded to the detected initial position. An ASM adaptor(37) adapts the loaded ASM to extract characteristic points of the components. A caricature generator(39) loads the three-dimensional polygon face basic model from the memory part for transforming the three-dimensional polygon face basic model according to coordinates of the extracted characteristic points to generate a three-dimensional polygon face caricature.
