The body (26) of the water pump (12) is fixed on the lateral face (16) of an engine casing (14). The pump comprises a pump shaft (40) having an intermediate section extending axially into a housing (36) of the pump body (26,28,34). A dynamic sealing joint (46) is located axially between a pump wheel (24) carried by the axial front end of the shaft and a radial evacuation orifice (48) for liquid leaks. There is a cavity (52) for the storage of leaks (54) which is connected to the evacuation orifice. An Independent claim is included for a water pump.
