PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the strength of a lock is low since a seat slide device is in a cantilever lock condition by a lock plate to a lower rail. SOLUTION: This seat slide device comprises an upper rail 12 slidable to a lower rail 11 and a lock plate 17 having a lock hole 17c in which a base end is turnably supported by the side of the upper rail and a lock tooth 14 formed on the lower rail is engaged with a bottom on a free end side. An engagement hole 18 is formed in each upper end 11a of the lower rail, and an upwardly erected tip lock claw 17b is formed at the tip of the lock plate on the lock hole side. Further, a locking hole 21 with the tip of the tip lock claw locked thereto when the tip lock claw is engaged with the engagement hole is formed in a locking piece 19 which is protruded in a substantially horizontal manner from the outer side of the upper rail, and the seat slide device is locked in a double-supporting condition by the lock plate and the upper rail.
