PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for removing free chlorine in a large quantity of water at a high speed with a small quantity of a removing material by which frequency of replacement or replenishment is very low and the concentration of salts in water is not raised. SOLUTION: The free chlorine removing material is characterized by containing a metal suboxide. As the suitable free chlorine removing material, a material having a shape of filter paper or filter cloth onto which the metal suboxide is adhered or is woven in paper or fiber or a material having a shape of a carrier on which the metal suboxide is deposited, can be cited. Preferably one kind or≥2 kinds of metal suboxide selected from among cuprous oxide, nickel suboxide and cobalt suboxide is used. Further, the metal suboxide is powdery or granular or fibrous and preferably average particle size or average fiber diameter is 1μm to 1mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
