PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit in which a dynamic range of an output image is dynamically assigned depending on an object. SOLUTION: The imaging unit is provided with: an imaging element (131) for imaging the object; a signal processing section (133) for composing a long time exposure image imaged by the imaging element and having a relatively lower exposure time with a short time exposure image with a relatively short exposure time to thereby generate a composite image with a relatively wider dynamic range than the dynamic range of at least the long time exposure image or the short time exposure image; and a control section (137) for dynamically changing a shared ratio of a high luminance dynamic range and a low medium luminance dynamic range among dynamic ranges of an output image resulting from compressing the composite image and being outputted as a video signal.
