A rail guided trolley system for a production layout has upper (1) and lower (2) rails with opposite gradients. Each trolley has lower (5) and upper (6) wheels and a support (9) for a workpiece. The upper wheels connected to the trolley by telescopic struts (28) linked to the workpiece support by hydraulic lines (12). When a workpiece is loaded onto the support the hydraulics extend the wheel supports and enable the trolley to be hung from the upper rails, with the wheels on a tilt mounting. This provides a simple trolley system for moving workpieces from one point to another, and with an automatic drive, in both directions, for the trolleys
