PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter device having a filter main body with a low pressure loss and a high dust collecting efficiency. SOLUTION: Gas is introduced from an inflow port 12, treated to become dust-resistant in a filter main body 20 formed of porous ceramics, and flows out of an outflow port 32. The filter main body 20 has a relatively coarse first region 21, a relatively fine third region 23 and a second region 22 intermediate in coarseness therebetween. This filter main body is prepared by immersing a synthetic resin foam of a three-dimensional reticular skeleton structure in a ceramic slurry, removing an excess slurry, drying the foam, and then calcining the foam in a calcining furnace at a temperature of about 1,000 to 1,500°C.
