PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely perform a focusing by always surely stopping an image pickup lens at a fixed position on an optical axis. SOLUTION: The image reader 8 is equipped with an ascending/descending bracket 32 and a lens unit 34. The unit 34 is attached to the bracket 32. The unit 34 is constituted of a lens base 65 on which a lens main body 64 is mounted, a lens holder 66 holding the lens base 65 to freely ascend/descend, and a shift mechanism making the base 65 ascend/descend. A bellows 82 is provided between the base 65 and the bracket 32. The bellows 82 is constituted by covering the periphery of a coil spring 83 with a cylindrical light shielding sheet 84. The bellows 82 always energizes the base 65 downward and also holds the main body 64 in a lightight state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
