<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To finish adjusting an image forming condition within an optimum time by constituting an image forming apparatus so that the execution of an automatic image forming condition adjusting means required in the midst of an image forming operation can advance at a reference speed peculiar to the automatic adjusting means without depending on the last image forming speed. <P>SOLUTION: When an image forming condition adjusting timing comes in the midst of forming images on several sheets (S163), first, information on the present image forming speed is retreated (S164), the image forming operation is stopped (S164), a toner density adjusting processing is performed (S166 to S169).
