PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element molding die that is capable of improving relative position precision of an optical effective surface formed in separate upper and lower dies. SOLUTION: In the optical element molding die provided with a first and a second die members each having a molding surface for molding the optical element, the first die member 1 has the first molding surface 1a for molding the first optical active surface of the optical element and two convex spherical shape sections 3a and 3b positioned at the site other than the first molding surface, and the second die member has the second molding surface for molding the second optical effective surface of the optical element and two concave spherical shape sections positioned at the site other than the second molding surface, which are combined with the convex spherical shape sections. The curvature of two units of convex and concave spherical shape sections is equivalent to each other and the center position of the spherical shape sections coincides with that of concave spherical shape sections.
