PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and surely detect the reference position on a conveyance belt such as a joint of a belt at a low cost. SOLUTION: The conveyance device makes a speed synchronization signal synchronizing the speed signal outputted from a optical speed measuring means as a line reference signal. The conveyance device is provided with a light transmission part on a part of a light receiving locus on the conveyance means of the conveyance device from the optical speed measuring means, and a photoelectric conversion means which receives the light from the optical speed measuring means and photoelectrically converts on the position opposing to the optical speed measuring means relative to the conveyance means. The reference position on the conveyance means is detected by transmitting the light from the optical speed measuring means only when the light transmission part on the conveyance means passes under the optical speed measuring means.
