<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display scaled-down image data with preset interested regions on an image display capable of displaying the data at a reduced scale so that the place and the number of the preset interested regions, contents, etc. can be easily grasped. <P>SOLUTION: For indicating thumbnails scaled down from original images, interested regions (ROI) are painted out and shown on a display.
