<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for reading pictures as well as an apparatus and a method for gamma correction, which reduces a memory size to accommodate a table for the gamma correction, while suppressing deterioration in the precision of the correction. <P>SOLUTION: The method and the apparatus, at first, convert graphic data by using a linear interpolation and a first table, the converted value of which is stored in an address corresponding to, at least one of input values of u(k)=a×b<SP>-k</SP>(where a and b are constants, as well as k=0, 1, 2 to m). Then, the method and the apparatus store a second table, the converted value of which is set corresponding to the graphic data which are converted using the first table, in an memory address corresponding to, at least one of input values of v(k)=ck+d (where c and d are constants, as well as K=0, 1, 2 to n). Furthermore, the method and the apparatus reconvert the graphic data, which are converted with the first table, by using the second table and the linear interpolation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
